Legislative Town Hall Meeting

Join State Senator David Koehler and State Rep. Mike Smith for a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, September 29th at 6:00 pm. The event will be held at the Festival of Lights Building at 2200 E Washington St. in East Peoria.

YWCA Thanks NAWBO for Sponsorship

The YWCA wants to extend its thanks to NAWBO for sponsoring the EverYWoman Run/Walk on September 12. The event raised over $7,800 for the programs of the YWCA including our homeless services, child care and warm water therapy. Thanks to everyone who participated!

September Membership Update

It is without a doubt that our members continue to bring value, connectivity and collaboration to the Central IL Chapter NAWBO.  It is the goal of the NAWBO Board that members are to be actively informed.  The membership chair along with three NAWBO ambassadors will be responsible for informing and connecting with each member of the chapter.   It is an opportunity for members to share information with their ambassadors about new ideas, success stories, business and personal news and events, and also to assist in bringing new visitors to monthly meetings.  Members are welcome to offer ways the chapter can use their skills and talents on committees, workshops, conferences or community events.

Mary Ardapple Receives ATHENA Award!

On September 10, 2009, 25 Women were honored for their community leadership at the annual "25 Women in Leadership" event.  This year another award was added to the program, the annual Athena Award given by the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce.  This prestigious award is given annually to a woman who shows outstanding achievement in her profession and not only excels in her chosen field, but is always working to better her community. 
 
The recipient this year was our very own Mary Ardapple, owner of Apple's Bakery.  Mary's Athena nomination touted her abilities to help individuals grow, her inherent belief that it is her responsibility to "give back" and her desire to make a difference in her community.  She has been called encouraging, inspiring, and a positive role model for women.
 
The award was established by the ATHENA Foundation.  It is a nationwide program to assist individuals and organizations with leadership opportunities for women.

“Introduce NAWBO to Bloomington” by Andrea Flairty

Andrea Flairty from Storage Options and Solutions is hosting the “Introduce NAWBO to Bloomington” event in her showroom in Bloomingotn on Tuesday, September 22nd.

The goal of this is to introduce the numerous women business owners I know in the Bloomington/Normal area to the Central Illinois chapter of NAWBO.  I would love to have as many of the members from Peoria over to mingle with these women so they can see what a fabulous group we have and what NAWBO can do for them professionally and personally!!
