ACTION NEEDED - Help Us Display Our Influence (Updated)

Stephaniecalahan We all know women are powerful.  We are communicators and we influence all of those around us.  Today, many of us use the internet to expand our reach with that influence.  In addition, in the past few months members have been requesting more interaction with each other both in and out of meetings.  (That is GREAT!)  In response, a few days ago you saw a message about our LinkedIN group

Today, we'd like to ask for 3 minutes of your time to share your internet presence.  The link will take you to a web form that you can fill out to tell us how to find you on the net.  (website, blogs, social networking sites, etc.)  Don't worry if you don't have information for all of the fields.  That is OK.  Each one of us has different comfort levels with the net.  Please share the information that is applicable to you.

http://www.nawbopulse.com/the_pulse/help-us-display-our-influence.html

To your success!
Stephanie

PS -- For those of you that were having troubles with the form originally, my apologies.  I set up the form but did not connect it to my form service properly.  I tested it tonight w/ my info and it works.

Wow! Look Who Have Joined! Come On! Its Easy!

The strength of any group is the INTERACTION that members have with one another.  Now for any of you that have been to meetings lately, you have noticed that the room is BUZZING with activity.  Heck!  It is hard for Della to get our attention to start a meeting and when the meeting is over many of us still hang out and talk more.  That is SO awesome, but it is one night a month.

Then, we have our Blog/Newsletter that has been fantastic for members to share their celebrations and general news throughout the month, but it is not as condusive to CONVERSATION.

So, we created the LinkedIN group to allow us to network on an even deeper level.

What is so great about a LinkedIN group?

This group is restricted to NAWBO CIL members only.  No one else can see the conversations.  You can choose to get emailed when conversations are happening, or you can go straight to the site to participate in a conversation.

Have a business problem?  Have a personal problem?  Want other NAWBO members to discuss a book with you?  Want to share a great article you just read? Want the collective knowledge of the group to help and support you?  This is the place to start a discussion.  The possibilities are endless.  You are free to post your discussion items 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  As other members have knowledge or perspective to share, they respond.

So How Do I Join?  What is the Cost?

That is the cool part!  There is NO COST to join LinkedIn.

If you already have a linkedin account, we have contacted you through LikedIn to join the group.  Just click the link and join.

Linkedin join screenIf you don't have a linkedin account, Go to www.LinkedIn.com and look to the right of the screen.  Fill in your name and email and the password you want to use and voila!  You have an account.  You will be taken to a profile sreen that you can fill out as much or as little as you want to about yourself.  (I suggest a lot - that is how people find you on the internet - I have gotten great contacts and clients just through my LinkedIn page!)  Once you have a profile set up, go to the group link (http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=801787) and click join.

Join Our LinkedIn Discussion Group

NAWBO-Central Illinois members have a new way to communicate and connect with each other - LinkedIn! A request from one of our new members, Marilyn Kohn, prompted us to take the initiative to create an online discussion group on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is an online networking site where you can create your own professional profile and connect with other professionals with similar interests. It's the world’s largest professional network. It allows you to connect with your chosen, trusted contacts and helps you exchange knowledge, ideas, and opportunities with a broader network of professionals.

LinkedIn allows members to particpate in private groups and discussions, so we have established a NAWBO-CIL group for our members. To get started, go to www.nawbo-cil.org/members.htm and click on the LinkedIn tab.

If you already have a profile, simply sign-in and join our group. If you are not on LinkedIn, you can establish your personal profile (sharing as much or as little as you want - you choose the information that is publically available) and then join our group.

Because this discussion group is exclusive to NAWBO-CIL members, all new users are required to be approved by our group manager, Stephanie Calahan. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie at membership@nawbo-cil.org, Mary Ardapple at apples@mtco.com, or Darcy at secretary@nawbo-cil.org.

30th Anniversary Committee Request

The 30th Anniversary Committee has begun planning for a grand chapter celebration September 9th at Mt. Hawley Country Club. The committee is looking for any quotes, videos, photos or memorabilia members may be willing to share to be incorporated into the evening's festivities. Please forward to Mary Ardapple, committee chair, at apples@mtco.com or drop off at Apple's Bakery.

Thanks, we appreciate your help!

Participate in an Important Research Project

Your help is needed for an important research project. Drs. Fred Fry, Tanya Marcum, and Eden Blair of Bradley University's Foster College of Business Administration are studying the costs to form corporations vs. LLCs in Illinois. The results of the research will be used to propose changes in the fee schedule for small and medium-sized businesses in Illinois. Please click on the following link to take a quick survey. It shouldn't take longer than 3-5 minutes to complete the survey, and your responses will help them include current owners' attitudes towards the fees and costs.

If you have questions, please contact Eden Blair at esblair@bumail.bradley.edu.
