Get Ready on Wednesday - NAWBO Offers No Cost Advertising Opportunity to Members

NAWBO Sisters –
We try to consistently listen to ideas from members and we’re excited to announce that we have a new opportunity for you!

What We Heard
• Members would like to have more ways to provide exposure to their business.
• Members would like to know more about each other and what we do outside of meetings.
• Members would like to have NAWBO have more exposure in the community

Your New Opportunity
Starting at this next chapter meeting, you will have the opportunity to participate in a short video about your business. Just like a 60 second commercial, tell viewers who you are, the name of your company, what you do and how you can be contacted.

Thanks to Julie Sowers of Short Stories Photography because she has volunteered to bring a backdrop and lighting so that our videos will look nice. We will share on the NAWBO site and if you would like a copy for your site, we can provide that as well.

If you have any questions, let us know.
To Your Success!
Stephanie

Pathway to Success Needs Your Help

Della snyder Hello, NAWBO Friends:

As you are aware, the 9th annual Pathway to Success conference has been scheduled for Thursday, October 23, at Weaver Ridge. If you haven't already marked your calendars, please do so now... you won't want to miss this terrific event.

The Committee, comprised of both NAWBO and WIL members, is hard at work preparing for this event… BUT we can definitely use a few more volunteers from our chapter. If you’d be willing to lend a hand in any way, let me know! It just hasn’t been possible for me to get around to ask everyone personally, so please consider this email a special request directly to YOU.

If you are interested in sponsorship of the event, there are a variety of ways to do that.

1) Dessert sponsorships - available for as little as $25! Dessert sponsorships provide you with name recognition on the dinner tables and recognition in the conference bags. This is excellent advertising opportunity to let us know what you do!

2) Conference event sponsorships - from $1500 down to $300. Each level has a certain level of amenities which include tickets to the event, a table amongst the vendors, program recognition, and more! Attached is a document (at the end of this note) outlining the various levels and corresponding perks.

3) Silent auction donations - anything from your company or from your hair stylist, coffee shop, restaurants, favorite store, gas station, oil changes, etc...

4) Vendor tables – we have several more spaces open and would love to have them filled! The cost for a table is $50.

I know I speak on behalf of all of the NAWBO volunteers and for our WIL partners when I thank you for your continuous support. This is an important annual event for women. Please let me know how you’d like to help.

Have a great day!

Della Snider, President NAWBO-CIL

A Note from Cathy Miller Beers

We received this note from Cathy Miller Beers, along with notes from her speech in May (Download SPEECHnaawbo2008.doc). Be sure to take note of the additional resources she suggests!

Della, Stephanie, Christine and the Crew at Nawbo:

It certainly was great meeting you!  I so enjoyed meeting so many new members since I'd been there last.  What great diversity and growth it demonstrates about our area and the fortitude of Women in Central Illinois. You should be so very proud!

As promised, I've attached an extreme rough of my notes, but it may help you with your notes.  (You know how fast I speak! HA).  It's such an exciting time.  I'd love to sit down with each business and just test one another on all the things that would work with their business.  Alas, only so much time in the day!!!  You're always such a fun group.

I also wanted to point out that Peter Drucker and Faith Popcorn are the two futurists I've tended to watch the closest over the years.  However, you can find futurists in each specific niche out there on the internet and I find them invaluable to trending the business.  They really do have access to so much more than we all do at Corporate America.

Also be sure to pay attention to Fast Company, Wall STreet Journal and Wired.

And, I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you about two websites I absolutely love!:

LadiesWhoLaunch.com - It has completely KEPT ME GOING when I was ready to give up.  Tales about those who've made it, are in the process of making it and never gave up!  Awesome site.

Pink.com - Business Owners and professional women....great stories but not as great as LWL!

Hope this has all proven very helpful.  Love to help where I can.

Warmest Regards,

Cathy Miller Beers

Public Policy: Fair and Equitable Tax Treatment

Joyduling

Position:
NAWBO supports fair and equitable tax policy for large and small businesses that fosters the economic growth of women-owned and other small businesses. Legislation should be enacted to ensure tax equity and basic fairness for all forms of small business organizations.
The privilege of deducting legitimate business expenses should no longer be based upon the entity chosen to operate the business.
